Veterans Community Living Centers Board Seeking Applicants For an Open Positions

March 23, 2026 — The Veterans Community Living Center Board of Commissioners (Web site) is currently seeking applicants to fill two open positions on the seven-board. Positions are appointed by the governor, and members serve for four years. The deadline to apply for this vacancy is April 24.

Candidates must be Colorado residents and meet criteria of at least one of the positions below:

  • Position for a veteran; or
  • Position for  person with expertise in nursing home operations AND who is a nursing home administrator at the time of appointment AND who is experienced in the financial operations of a nursing home. 

The functions of the board are to:

  • Advise the office and veterans homes located in Monte Vista (Homelake), Florence (McCandless), Rifle, Aurora (Fitzsimons) and Walsenburg (Spanish Peaks);
  • Provide continuity, predictability and stability in the operation of the veterans centers; and
  • Provide guidance to future administrators at the veterans centers based on the collective institutional memory of the board.

Board members meet quarterly for 2-3 hours per meeting. Meetings are held virtually and/or at veterans homes throughout Colorado.
