Long-Term Care Ombudsman
The Colorado State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program fights for residents of skilled nursing homes and licensed assisted living facilities.
The authority of the long-term care ombudsman program stems from Title VII, Chapter 2, of the Older Americans Act, as well as Title 26, Article 11.5, of the Older Coloradans Act.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program exists to protect the rights that federal and state law guarantee to every resident.
Services
Certified Long-Term Care Ombudsmen receive comprehensive training to field complaints and investigate concerns about quality of care, use of restraints, transfer and discharge, abuse, and other aspects of resident dignity and rights. Ombudsman services are always free, confidential and resident-directed.
Contact an ombudsman
State law requires every licensed long-term care facility to display a poster with the facility’s assigned ombudsman’s name and contact information. If you’re a resident (or a family member of someone) in a facility, call the ombudsman listed on the poster.
To speak with a long-term care ombudsman, visit the Colorado Long-Term Care Program website or call 303-862-3524.
