Disability services
CDHS fosters independence to Coloradans of all abilities through access to seamless and responsive personalized service. CDHS focuses on services and programs benefiting people with intellectual, developmental or physical disabilities; members of the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind communities; and those who have suffered brain injuries. These offerings also include support for impacted individuals' loved ones.
The following programs serve Coloradans with disabilities:
Regional Centers
CDHS oversees three Regional Centers (in Grand Junction, Pueblo and Wheat Ridge) that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Disability Determination Services
CDHS's Disability Determination Services (DDS) is the state agency that makes the disability decisions for the federal Social Security program.
Deaf, Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind services
SENSE Colorado, formerly known as the Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind (CCDHHDB), seeks to ensure communication access, technology support and community resources for DHHDB individuals, their families, professionals and community partners.
Brain injury services
CDHS's Mindsource Brain Injury Network (formerly the Colorado Brain Injury Program) strives to enhance the quality of life for everyone in Colorado living with or affected by brain injury, and their communities.
